title | What are IBANs & SWIFT codes? |
---|
|
IBAN stands for International Bank Account Number, which is used when making or receiving international payments. An IBAN doesn’t replace a sort code/BSB and account number, it’s an additional number with extra information to help overseas banks identify accounts for payments. A SWIFT code (or SWIFTBIC, as sometimes known) is a code that helps overseas banks identify which bank to send money to. For example, if an overseas bank is sending to a payment to your account, they will need to know the bank's SWIFT code. |
