What are IBANs & SWIFT codes?

IBAN stands for International Bank Account Number, which is used when making or receiving international payments

- an IBAN doesn’t replace a sort code/BSB and account number, it’s an additional number with extra information to help overseas banks identify accounts for payments

A SWIFT code (or SWIFTBIC, as sometimes known) is a code that helps overseas banks identify which bank to send money to

- for example, if an overseas bank is sending to a payment to your account, they will need to know the bank's SWIFT code

From a Bank Details screen, e.g. from the landlord record:

• AC No/IBAN will accept either an account or IBAN number
  Up to 40 alphanumeric characters can be entered

• Sort Code/SWIFT will accept either a sort code or swift code
  Up to 35 alphanumeric characters can be entered
