This guide has been reviewed against our global client base and classed as relevant to the following regions: UK, APAC, UAE

This article outlines how to create and request custom areas for use in AgencyCloud

It contains details on how to draw areas, how to edit drawn areas and how to save and request the addition of these to your setup

1. Opening the map creator

  • From your preferred internet browser, navigate to www.scribblemaps.com

This will display the pictured home page

  • Click Create Map

2. Drawing the area

Once you've opened the map creator you'll be met with a global map:

  • In the pictured search area, type the name of the location you wish to create an area for and press enter

You can use the options at the bottom right of the map to change how the map is displayed, i.e. hybrid, road, satellite or terrain

  • Click the Hand Tool and drag the map to get a good view of the desired location

  • Click the Polygon Tool

A single click of the left mouse will begin the drawing of the line (shown in the second screenshot), a second click will end the first and begin the second line.

When drawing a second line, the shape of the area will begin to form (shown in the third screenshot)

  • Double click to complete the shape - see 2a for additional tips

 2a. Additional tips

- This tool can be used to create any shape to cover the required area

- All properties contained within the border and its shaded area will be attributed to the area

- You should aim to avoid the outside lines being placed on a road

For example, the area on the right starts with a section of Lode Lane and, in order to get all properties on that section of the road inside the area, the border line must be drawn past the road, rather than on it. This ensures that the properties on the road are within the highlighted area and will therefore be included in any matches carried out

3. Editing the captured area

The shape drawn can be edited using the Edit/Measure tool:

  • Click the Edit/Measure Tool

  • The white handles on the borders can be used to further manipulate the area

  • Clicking and dragging the border will move the shape as a whole

4. Saving the area

Once you're happy with the area, it will need to be saved as a KML file:

  • Click Menu > Save KML

  • In the Save Map screen you will need to enter the Map ID, Title and Description, lastly clicking Save Map

  • This will present a Map Saved screen, click Continue Working and close the Save Map screen

  • Click Menu and then Save KML again, this will start a download of the KML file

  • This download will appear in the bottom left of the browser (can differ based on the browser) and will be saved in your Downloads folder, right-click on the file and select show in folder to immediately be taken to this file location

  • Now that you have the file, you can create a case via the Service Portal, attaching the KML file to the ticket

This will be picked up by the Reapit Service Control team who will add the area and confirm once done
