Changes to quick property search function via main menu

This guide has been reviewed against our global client base and classed as relevant to all regions

Available from version 12.201.6 (onwards)

All changes to property searching relate to when searching via the Property option on the main menu only

Various changes have been made to the quick property search function, carried out via the main menu, to increase efficiency and system performance - the changes can be summarised as follows:

  • Only one wildcard* search applied
Only one wildcard search is used in a search, plus the wildcard is only applied to the end of the search term, this change results in more relevant property search results being returned
Prior to this release, multiple wildcards were applied throughout the search term/phrase

*wildcard = a special character that represents one or more other characters in a search
  • Maximum search result - 50 sales/lettings properties
Up to 50 search results will be shown for each search type in the menu bar - i.e. up to 50 sales properties and 50 lettings properties - this will result in faster searches
To view more than 50 search results, the existing Advanced Search function should be used instead
Prior to this release, 100 results for each search type were shown in the menu bar

  • No archive search
Only live properties will be returned, archived properties will not be included - this will result in a faster search process
For archived properties, the existing Advanced Search function should be used instead
Prior to this release, archived properties were searched for and shown in the menu bar

  • No contact address search
Contact addresses will not be used when searching, although other contact details will be used when searching - i.e. name, postcode, phone number(s) & email address
Prior to this release, contact addresses would be searched and shown in the menu bar

Each change is explained in more detail below, including how to access property quick search:

Only one wildcard* search applied

*wildcard = a special character that represents one or more other characters in a search

  • Only one wildcard search is used in a search

  • The wildcard is only applied to the end of the search term, rather than to every space within the search term/phrase, as done previously

Example

  • Searching for ‘65 Long’ will return results that match ‘65’ exactly and start with ‘long’
(‘long’ is the last term within the search and therefore where the wildcard is applied)

  • Prior to this release, a wildcard would also be applied after the number - for example, searching for ‘6 Long' would have returned the property in the example below, along with ‘61 Long Street, 62 Long Street, 63 Long Street, and so on) - now, searching for '6 long’ will only return properties that contain '6 long’ at the start of the search term

Maximum search result - 50 sales/lettings properties

i.e. up to 50 sales properties and 50 lettings properties

  • Where a search has more than 50 results, this is indicated as 50+
