Various changes have been made to the quick property search function, carried out via the main menu, to increase efficiency and system performance

All changes to property searching are outlined below and relate to when searching via the Property option on the main menu

The changes can be summarised as follows:

  • Address search only
Only property address details are searched, this will result in more relevant property search results being returned
Prior to this release, contact and company details were searched and returned

  • One wildcard search
Only one wildcard search is used in a search, plus the wildcard is only applied to the end of the search term, this change results in more relevant property search results being returned
Prior to this release, multiple wildcards were applied throughout the search term/phrase

  • Maximum search result - 50 sales/lettings properties
Up to 50 search results will be shown for each search type in the menu bar - i.e. up to 50 sales properties and 50 lettings properties - this will result in faster searches
To view more than 50 search results, the existing Advanced Search function should be used instead

  • No archive search
Only live properties will be returned, archived properties will not be included - this will result in a faster search process
For archived properties, the existing Advanced Search function should be used instead

Each change is explained in more detail below, including how to access property quick search:
(click a link to skip to a section)

Access quick property search function

The quick property search function is accessed via the main menu:

  • Click Property

  • Use the search bar shown to the right to carry out a quick property search

Address search only

  • Only property address details are searched

  • Contact/company details held on a property record are no longer searched

Example

  • Searching using a name will only look at the search term within the property address

  • It will not look at contact or company records containing this search term
e.g. Wilson is only returned when it is part of a property address

This change will generate more relevant search results

One wildcard search

  • Only one wildcard search is used in a search

  • The wildcard is only applied to the end of the search term
(rather than to every space within the search term/phrase)

Example

  • Searching for ‘65 Long’ will return results with the full search term in it plus any characters after i

  • Prior to this release, a wildcard would also be applied after the number, resulting in any property address being returned containing ‘6' and 'long’ - therefore having the potential to return many potentially irrelevant results (e.g. 6 Long Street, 61 Long Street, 62 Long Street etc.)

This change will generate more relevant search results

Maximum search result - 50 sales/lettings properties

  • Up to 50 search results will be shown for each search type in the menu bar
i.e. up to 50 sales properties and 50 lettings properties

  • Where more than 50 results are available, this is indicated as shown below, e.g. 50+

    Property search max 50.png

To view more than 50 search results, the existing Advanced Search function should be used instead

From the bottom of the main menu:

  • Click Advanced Search and select Sales/Lettings Property Search, as appropriate

Property search - Advanced Search button.png
  • The Advanced Search screen is displayed showing the full property search results
In this example, there were 97 properties returned

Property search max 50 - advanced search view.png

This change results in a quicker search process

No archive search

  • Only live properties will be returned

  • Archived properties will not be included

Example

If searching for a property that is in the archive via quick property search:

  • If the search does not return any matches, the option to click advanced search is offered

Property search archived property not found.png
  • OR, if the search does get matches but not the correct one, click Advanced Search at the bottom of the menu bar and select Sales/Lettings Property Search, as appropriate

Property search - Advanced Search button.png
  • The Advanced Search screen is displayed pulling through the previous search term

    • Tick Archive
The archived property is displayed on the right

Property search - advanced search view with archive ticked.png

This change results in a quicker search process
