Change landlord (with transactions)

This guide has been reviewed against our global client base and classed as relevant to all regions

Before changing a landlord on a property, all transactions must be cleared

This page outlines how to change a landlord where transactions exist - click here for guidance on changing the landlord where no transactions are involved

The landlord account needs to be completely finalised before the property is cleared

This is due to outstanding transactions being linked against the old landlord

1. Check for outstanding payments

If the landlord has one property:

  • From landlord record, click Transactions (top left)

If the landlord has multiple properties:

  • From landlord record, in Landlord's Properties, right-click over property and select View statement for this property

2. Check landlord transactions

  • From Landlord Transactions check for outstanding items, such as:

    • rent that has not paid to the landlord

    • fees - including Management, Letting & Administration fees

    • supplier invoices

    • float held

  • The same checks should now be carried out for the related tenant

This prevents funds received and allocated against these receipts going back to the old landlord

3. Clear landlord

From property:

  • Right-click over Landlord and select Clear this property's Landlord

4. Add new landlord

  • Click the Landlord link

  • The Search Landlords screen is displayed, use this to search for the required landlord

  • Double-click when found - the landlord will be added to the property
If not found, click Add to create new
